My name is Joyce Stoliar Shanks (my maiden name was Stoliar ) and I am a complementary health practitioner or holistic therapist.

I am a wife, a mom, a Reflexologist, and a second degree Reiki Practitioner. I am an energetic individual involved in many things including fundraising for charity, and trying very hard to leave this planet a better place, than when I arrived.

For years my health has benefited greatly from the use and proper application of a variety of complementary and alternative medicine practices, also known as CAM and as a result I made it my priority in 2004, almost two years after the birth of my daughter to start training to become a practitioner myself.

A future page on this site will go into detail on my personal experiences with CAM, but for the time being please bear with me as that is part of the “work in progress” on this site.

In January of 2008 in an effort to unite with other holistic practitioners in my community and to learn about their areas of expertise as well as create business relationships with them I created a local network called The West Island Complementary Health Alliance. We are practitioners and earth friendly businesses united to try and improve the health of the planet and the population, through learning, networking and disseminating information. My husband Ray and daughter Ayla are in this photo with me. I truly am blessed to have them by my side. They are the most important people in the world to me. Without their support operating the clinic in our home would not be possible.

For three years I have been participating in the Montreal Weekend to End Breast Cancer. I raised more than $ 10,000 dollars for the Montreal Jewish General Hospital Segal Cancer Center in my first two years. My fundraising for the event this year is off to a slow start, due to other commitments, however I fully intend on raising enough funds to participate yet again.
